The Republic of Azerbaijan introduced electronic visas also called e-visa for UK citizens from the year 2017. The Azerbaijan e-visa system is called ASAN Visa and issues pre-entry visa document instead of a stamp on your passport. This Visa document needs to be carried along with your passport while travelling to Azerbaijan. Only UK citizens with a valid UK passport can apply for an e-visa. Azerbaijan e-visa are only issued for single entry tourist visa type for a maximum stay of 30 days with a maximum validity of 90 days. This new e-Visa system makes traveling to Azerbaijan much easier. The e-visa can be issued for 30 days up to 2 years with single or multiple entry depending on the category of Visa applied and is all done online along with uploading the relevant documents and Photo.

The e-visa application process is much faster and convenient if the information provided is correct and uploaded documents are in the accepted formats. If the application is incorrect and the visa is refused, you are only eligible to re-apply for a regular visa afterwards. For other categories of visa and for non-uk passport holders, you instead will have to apply for a regular visa. Azerbaijan Visas are valid from the date of issue. Single entry visas are valid for up to 90 days from the date of issue with the duration of stay up to 30 days. Multiple entry Business and Private visas are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and the duration of stay is up to 180 days in total with a maximum stay of 90 days in one visit.

Yes you can. Holders of EU member state and EEA (European Economic Area) passports (except citizens of UK, Ireland, Iceland, and Denmark) must provide two types of residence evidence documents like utitlity bills. Citizens of other countries must provide a UK visa/residence permit that is valid for at least 3 months past the requested Azerbaijan visa expiry date. Yes you can extend your Azerbaijan Visa within country by up to 3 months by contacting the State Migration Services Department. Also do kindly note that all tourists staying for more than 10 days are required to register with the local police station within 10 days of arrival. In most cases, your hotel will make the registration on your behalf but if staying privately then you will have to do it yourself. Also, very important to make sure you check the duration of your visa immediately to avoid overstaying unintentionally. Your visa should be valid when departing Azerbaijan else you will need to pay a fine and obtain an exit permit from the State Migration Service.

Your passport must be valid for at least three months past the expiry date of the requested Azerbaijani visa.
