Spain EEA/EU And Swiss National Family Member Visa
Applicants who are spouses including civil partnerships, dependants under the age of 18 and parents who are dependent on an EU national or EEA family member can apply under this category. This is only applicable when travelling with the EU national or EEA family member.Please refer to the documents required section to ascertain which documents are required. Please be aware that the Spanish consulate reserves the right to request additional documents not on the list in order to process the application. We will inform you should this be the case once the application is submitted.
The issuance of a visa and the duration is at the sole discretion of the Spanish consulate however if you do plan to have more than one trip in the Schengen area you may also provide evidence of this in your application in order to strengthen the chances of obtaining a longer multiple visa.
Documents Required
- Passport (original and copy) must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area and has to be issued within the last 10 years on the day of leaving the Schengen Area. Photocopies of all previous Schengen.
- UK residence permit (original and copy) must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area.
- Two recent passport size photographs (not older than 1 month) taken against a white background.
- Visa application form, dully completed in all sections, dated and signed. Application form is in the download pack.
- Marriage certificate (original and copy). If the EU citizen is a Spanish national, you must provide a “Libro de Familia” (original and copy).
- EEA/EU and Swiss national’s passport (original and copy).
- Original signed/dated letter by EU citizen showing his/her intention to either travel together with the applicant either to meet with him/ her in Spain. The letter must certify that the relationship with non EU relative is still ongoing and that they are travelling to Spain together or meeting there. If EU citizen is a Spanish national then the letter must be written in Spanish only.
- Original signed/dated letter by the applicant explaining the reason to travel.
- Confirmed return flight tickets mentioning both applicant and EEA/EU and Swiss national family member’s names.
- Confirmed hotel reservation mentioning both applicant’s names, travel dates and accommodation address.
- Completed GAN Visa Order Form which is in the download visa package.

- You should apply for a Spanish Schengen visa in UK only;
- If Spain is the only Schengen country you plan on visiting
- Spain is your main destination (the country you will be staying the longest in)
- Spain is the first Schengen country you are visiting (when spending an equal amount of days in Spain and another Schengen country)
- Anyone who is planning to stay in Spain for more than 90 days should apply for a long stay visa.
- All documents submitted must be in English or Spanish. When stated or requested the documents should be translated only into Spanish by a certified professional translator.
- All applicants must provide a separate set of documents even if applying as a family.
