ETIAS, which stands for the European Travel Information and Authorization System, is a visa waiver pre-screening program for visitors intending to travel to the European Union, created by the EU in order to protect and strengthen its borders. It is very similar to the United States Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). The ETIAS will grant the traveler with the right to enter and stay in Europe for up to 90 days. At the moment, UK citizens along with 61 eligible countries that have been granted with the visa free waiver do not need ETIAS to enter Schengen countries. Except multiple-entry visa, which enables you to remain in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days within a 180 days period, the validity of your single-entry visa or double-entry visa depends on the Country embassy you have applied.
